Milwaukee’s lobbyist has been chosen to head the city’s Fire and Police Commission. Executive Director MaryNell Regan submitted her resignation last weekend. Mayor Tom Barrett nominated La Keisha Butler for the position Monday, but he has received some push-back. Alderman Bob Donovan says he didn’t support Regan’s appointment, but he had been pleasantly surprised that she didn’t turn out to be a rubber stamp for the mayor. Donovan says the commission needs a leader who will stand up to Barrett.
