The resignation letter submitted by the chaplain of the U-S House of Representatives makes it look like House Speaker Paul Ryan forced him out. The Reverend Patrick Conroy resigned April 15, writing, “As you have requested, I hereby offer my resignation.” A spokesperson for Ryan says Conroy made the decision to step down. Concerns had been expressed about the partisan nature of some of his prayers. Democrats have been dismayed about the action taken by the Wisconsin Republican. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she has received only positive feedback about Conroy.
