For the second time in less than a month, a gorilla at the Milwaukee County Zoo has died. Seventeen-year-old Naku was euthanized last weekend after an examination found that part of her intestine had died and wasn’t functioning. Medical experts determined she had less than a 10-percent chance of surviving an operation. Zookeepers say she appeared more tired than usual Friday, so she was checked out. Veterinarians will try to determine if Saturday’s death of the western lowland gorilla is connected in any way to the April 12th death of an adult male named Cassius.
