The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has announced the winners of the 2017 Officer and Corrections Officer of the Year. Deputy Sheriff Cory Zimmer received the prior, after being credited with two Lifesaving events, including talking someone out of committing suicide. Zimmer has been with the Department since 1988, when he started as a reserve deputy. Meanwhile Officer Cheryl Nack was honored by being named Corrections Officer of the Year. Over the Past year, Officer Nack took on extra responsibilities, such as organizing and completing records retention requirements, totaling around 3,000 files each year. Her contributions have allowed the Jail Division to run more efficiently, securely, and more organized.
