Left-hander Wade Miley held Cincinnati to three hits and one run in six innings in his first start of the year. Milwaukee won the Wednesday night game 3-1, earning a sweep of the three-game series and taking sole possession of first place in the National League Central Division. Manager Craig Counsell spoke about Miley and his return to the mound.
Christian Yelich hit his third home run off Reds starter and loser Luis Castillo in the fifth inning. That broke a 1-1 tie and gave Miley his first major league victory since last August when he was pitching for Baltimore. Yelich, Jesus Aguilar, and Domingo Santana each had a pair of hits. Jeremy Jeffress pitched two scoreless innings to claim his second save in two days. Counsell was pleasantly surprised by the performance.
The Brewers take today off, then Junior Guerra starts the first game of a three-game series at home against Pittsburgh Friday.
