A search continued yesterday without success for a person reported missing in Lake Michigan near Hika Bay Park in the Village of Cleveland. Local authorities were initially notified early Tuesday evening of a person appearing to be in distress in the lake and then ‘go under the water’ without resurfacing. An unoccupied vehicle found near the Hika Bay Park boat launch “suggests the registered owner may be the possible drowning victim.” Sheriff’s Deputy Inspector Of Operations Jason Orth tells Seehafer News this morning that arrangements are being coordinated with the Wisconsin DNR to utilize their Side-Scan-Sonar to assist with search efforts. However, recent weather activity is hindering the search. The Manitowoc County SCUBA team was conducting the search Wednesday with assistance from the U-S Coast Guard, Cleveland Police, Fire & First responders and Manitowoc Fire & Rescue.
