The Manitowoc county Historical Society has announced that the second phase of the Meeme House Inn restoration project has reached its fundraising goal. The entire project began with plans to purchase, relocate, and restore the historic building. The structure has already been purchased, and relocated to Pinecrest Historical Village, and now the combination of private donations, and a grant from the Ruth St. John and John Dunham West Foundation, Inc allows for the exterior restoration plans to begin. The Meeme House Inn was built around 1855 along the Green Bay Road, connecting Fort Dearborn in Chicago, and Fort Howard in Green Bay.
