An administrative law judge has ruled permits issued for a Monroe County sand processing plant were improperly granted. Georgia-based Meteor Timber wants to build a 70-million facility northeast of Millston and the Department of Natural Resources awarded the company permits to destroy 16 acres of wetlands. Judge Eric Defort ruled Friday that the D-N-R didn’t have enough information to determine the environmental impact and the company’s mitigation plan wasn’t adequate. Clean Wisconsin and the Ho-Chunk National had challenged the permits.
