Pirates right-hander Chad Kuhl allowed no runs and one hit in seven dominating innings while leading Pittsburgh past the Milwaukee Brewers 9-0 Sunday. The Pirates hit three home runs. Domingo Santana’s second-inning single was the only hit Kuhl gave up. Richard Rodriguez struck out six while pitching the last two innings, allowing only a base hit by Hernan Perez. Craig Counsell stated simple, the Brewers have to score runs.
Chase Anderson took the loss after being roughed up for five runs in five-and-one-third innings. Milwaukee has been shut out seven times in the first 35 games of this season, something Counsell addressed.
The Brewers wrap up the homestand with a pair of games at Miller Park against Cleveland. Left-hander Wade Miley will start the first game Tuesday.
