The Milwaukee Police Association says the officers involved in a fight with a man suffering a mental health crisis should have had Tasers available as a tool. A cell phone video of officers punching and kicking 25-year-old Demetrius Lowe has resulted in four being taken off the streets — one suspended. Union officials say supervisors had “locked down” the Tasers. They say if they had that tool when dealing with Lowe, the situation might have been brought under control before it escalated. Lowe ignored orders and punched officers multiple times.
