After a weekend full of road closures due to flooding and dam overflow, we reached out to the Emergency Management Director for Manitowoc County, Travis Waack to get the full scoop on what all went down. The biggest topic of discussion was the dam in Shoto. A lot of people were saying that there were concerns that the dam could burst, however that is not completely accurate.
Waack went on to explain how he and his team reacted to the situation.
Even though the situation was an abnormal one, with locals saying the water hadn’t be that high since either the mid 1990’s or as many as 40 years ago, and even though Waack has only held this position for three months, he feels he and his team reacted appropriately.
Shoto was not the only area affected by the heavy rain fall. Waack explains.
We asked Waack if there was any significant damage to any roadways, and he was happy to report that the roads area all fine.
