The Valders High School Girls Fastpitch Softball team suffered its’ 1st CONFERENCE loss of the season yesterday when the Vikings were defeated by Chilton 13-to-8. Callie Behnke led the Valders offense by going 2-for-4 including a home run, double & 4-rbi’s, teammate Kendra Hammel also went 2-for-4. Starting pitcher Jenna Evenson allowed 7-earned runs and took the loss. Alysha Brickl was winning pitcher & offensive leader for the host Tigers with a complete game effort….and added 3-hits, including a homer & 3-rbi’s. The Vikings fall to 5-and-1 in the E-W-C, 10-and-2 overall. Chilton improves to 5-and-oh in league, and 9-&-2.
This afternoon….Valders will travel to ‘undefeated’ Brillion. The ‘Lions’ were also in action Monday and shut out Roncalli 11-nothing.

Plymouth outscored Sheboygan Falls….16-9.
In Boys High School Baseball, host Manitowoc Lincoln & Notre Dame Academy hooked up in a pitcher’s duel at Municipal Field. The contest was scoreless for 6-inning before the Tritons plated ‘3’-runs and then held on for a 3-to-2 FRCC victory over the Ships. Lincoln had the potential tying-&-winning run on base but the final batter was retired on a flyout to left. John Zacharias earned the win with late relief help. Tanner Hadler took the loss.
At Reedsville…..Valders…rallied for 2-runs in the top of the 7th..for a 4-3 win over the host Panthers. Fletcher Dallas drove in the go ahead run with a single after Kyle Tuma tied it with a sacrifice fly. Dallas picked up the win in relief with 3-and-2-thirds scoreless innings, during which he allowed 2-hits, no walks and struck out 6. Josh Schuh took the loss for Reedsville, despite giving up just 5-hits & 2-earned runs.
In Boys Golf, Roncalli captured the team title in the 5th Eastern Wisconsin Conference meet of the spring. The Jets posted a low score of 163…New Holstein was a distant second at 174..Two Rivers finished 4th, Kiel was 5th, Brillion 6th and Valders was 8th. Meet medalist was Kiel’s Trace Woepse who carded an even par 36, 1-shot ahead of the JETS’ Ian Behringer..Bryce Pautz tied for 3rd at 39…Bennett Braun shot a 41 & a 3-way tie for 5th…Zack Gordon of Two Rivers tied for 8th with the Jets Ethan Wheelis…at 42.
In Boys Tennis, Roncalli continues to impress with a pair of wins Monday at Kaukauna. The Jets cruised past Green Bay West 7-nothing, before edging division-1, Appleton North, 4-to-3. Coach Bob Nelson said the highlight was at #4 singles where Evan Mahalakakos rallied from a 7-1 deficit in the super tie-breaker for the 3rd set to clinch the win over the Lightning. The Jets are now 10-and-1 this season.
