The Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center at Citizen Park will be opening for its 9th season early next month. Weekend hours, starting June 2nd and 3rd will be extended by one hour and will be open from noon until seven. The A-C will be open EVERY day for the summer season, effective June 9 through the middle of August.
Phase-1 of the project came to fruition in 2010, phase-2 came along in 2014 with an 18-hole miniature golf-course and now, the Friends of the Family Aquatic Center are planning for Phase-3. President Amy Fricke-Weigel says under the newest expansion, a ‘Splash Pad’ would be created.
That’s in addition to developing a hot-tub atmosphere with a ‘Hot Spring Cove.’
Fricke-Weigel says they’ve been in the ‘quiet’ phase of the $2.2-million dollar project, with the word just now getting out to the public.
She said the Aquatic Center board has already raised $500,000 towards the campaign goal and a MATCH GRANT from the West Foundation.
