A corporate financial officer for a Johnson Creek business has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison. Sixty-four-year-old Thomas G. Paine has admitted he didn’t file corporate tax returns for a produce business known as Tree Ripe Citrus Company from 1997-to-2012. Paine was vice president and treasurer for the parent company. He has been ordered to pay 421-thousand dollars in restitution. The U-S Department of Justice told the court he concealed business income from the I-R-S and made bank deposits just under the threshold to avoid federal reporting regulations.
