The City of Manitowoc has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection agency to receive Brownfields grants for two separate projects. First, to help continue the environmental review and cleanup of the old Mirro building, the Community Development Authority was granted $200,000. The City itself meanwhile will receive $300,000 to investigate properties in the heavily industrialized areas along the Manitowoc River and Lake Michigan. The EPA says that these grants are the latest in a series that have helped create around 100 jobs and helped generate around $9.5 million in private investment.
