A public meeting to discuss disposal of dredged material from the Little Manitowoc River will be held by the Department of Natural Resources at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the engineering conference room at Manitowoc City Hall, 900 Quay Street. The Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership and city of Manitowoc have requested approval from the DNR to dispose of sediments to be dredged from the Little Manitowoc River for restoration purposes. They propose to dispose of the material at the City of Manitowoc’s Gravel Pit located at 3130 Hecker Road. The material will be used to widen a berm on the property currently used as shooting barrier for Manitowoc Police Department training. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment and answer questions on the proposal. There will be a brief introduction and explanation of the project by DNR, LNRP and city representatives. All public comments received during the meeting will be considered by DNR in its decision on the proposal.
