Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department say a major fire broke out at the historic Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon at about 3:45 P-M. Before the flames were put out, a spire and part of the roof collapsed in the fire which went to four alarms. The official cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but firefighters think it broke out on the roof where a construction project was being done. The church’s pastor reported the fire. The church in the downtown area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built 140 years ago.
