2nd district State representative Andre Jacque was a winner over Green Bay businessman Alex Renard yesterday in the Republican primary for the 1st Senate district’s special election. Jacque defeated Renard by a 330-vote margin with the ‘unofficial’ tally giving the assemblyman 4,369 votes compared to a 4,039 total for his opponent. Jacque picked up nearly 52% of the votes cast in the district to advance to the June 12th matchup with Democrat Caleb Frostman. The victor will serve-out former senator Frank Lasee’s term in the State Senate until it expires January. Lasee vacated the position to accept a job with the State. Both Jacque & Renard are also expected to seek a 2-year term in the office in the November election. Meanwhile Voters in northern Manitowoc County showed Andre Jacque ‘easily’ outpolling Alex Renard 1072 to 382. The unopposed Frostman received 2-hundred-81 votes yesterday. Manitowoc County Clerk Lois Kiel (keel) said just ‘9-percent’ of the eligible voters went to the polls in our county after a judge ordered Governor Walker to call a special election for the first senate district.
