Governor Walker and First Lady Tonette Walker Visited Faculty and staff this morning at Two Rivers High School and Koenig Elementary as part of Trauma-Informed Care Awareness Month. The First Lady said they (the schools) are a model meeting a child “where they are at.”
Governor Walker utilizing Trauma-Informed care eases the transition from high school to the “real world”.
The Governor adds Tic shifts the perspective from blaming people for their problems to using the science of Adverse-Childhood Experiences (ACES) to guide support and the creation of new policies and practices.
The First Lady adds “We have a public health problem with these families living in toxic stress and we need to get to the root of that.” She’s been working for more than a decade to promote TIC and last month the U.S. House of representatives passed House Resolution 443 which does just that.
