A southwestern Wisconsin man could face losing his driver’s license permanently after his seventh OWI-related offense. The Wisconsin State Patrol says 37-year-old James Baumgartner of Mauston was arrested early Friday in Dane County for operating a vehicle under the influence. Troopers responded to a vehicle that ran off Interstate 94 in Deerfield and found Baumgartner slumped over in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition and the car in drive. He was jailed on suspicion of O-W-I seventh offense, possession of methamphetamine, T-H-C and drug paraphernalia. A new state law calls for permanent driver’s license revocation for offenders convicted of four or more OWI-related offenses.
