The Sun Prairie man accused of killing his mother in 2015 could be released from a mental health facility. Matthew Skalitzky was found not guilty of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 68-year-old Jane Skalitzky and sentenced to the Mendota Mental Health Institute. He was not criminally responsible for killing his mom due to mental disease or defect. Skalitzky’s lawyer asked for a petition to seek a conditional release Friday in Dane County court. The judge agreed and ordered the state to come up with a plan in the next two months for his release.
