On a unanimous 7 to 0 vote the Manitowoc Public School District’s Board of Education passed a grade alignment plan this afternoon . Superintendent Mark Holzman says the plan takes affect for the 2019-20 school year.
Holzman says the plan was originally discussed to deal in-part with steadily declining enrollment.
The future of the McKinley Academy building is still in limbo, but closing the facility built in 1891 would save the District approximately $400,000. Holzman says work has continued-on this alignment for well over a year.
Lincoln High School was one of a few in Wisconsin still operating under the 10-12 high school model.
