High School Track & Field athletes from our Lakeshore area competed last night in WIAA Regional Competition. Sectionals meet will be later this week.
Two Rivers
Senior Darquise Winters led the Two Rivers Track and Field contingent at last night’s WIAA division-2 Regional at Brillion. Winters WON 3-events: the high jump, 110 meter hurdles and the Long jump to lead the Raider Boys to a runnerup finish in the team standings. Also advancing to the Sectional for Two Rivers were Darius Campanella-1st in the shot-put, Owen Williams a regional Champ in the pole vault, along with teammate Austin Isely. Owen also qualifies in the Triple Jump. The Raider boys advance their 4-by-100 & 4-by-200-relays…and Tommy Bianchi gets to the sectional in the 200-meter dash.
In the Girls division: Two Rivers freshman Emma Cooley qualified in both the 400-and-800 meter run, along with fellow 9th grader Makenzie Greenwood in the longer race. Other Raider individual qualifiers include Haley Vanne in the 1600 meter run, Hannah Helling in the 3200 Kiley Graff in the high jump & two-relays: 4-by-100-and 4-by-800, as TR finished 4th.
Roncalli
Roncalli had 2 Regional champions: Maya Lusk captured the girls long jump & Ben Oberbreckling earned a 1st in the 300-hurdles. Oberbreckling also moves on in the 200-meters & Jade Treadway in the girls pole vault.
Lincoln
Manitowoc Lincoln qualifies the Girls 4-by-800 tandem of Verbauwhede, Reinhart, Robinson and Schuh, the 4-by-400 team of Robinson, Khalil, Dawidowich and Parrish…..Dawidowich in both the 100-&-200 meters,
Khalilin the 400-meter run, Verbauwhede & Reinhart in the 800 and Schmidt in the High Jump. On the Boys side for the Ships Junior Korshaun Walcott qualifies with a first in the 100-m dash, along with teammate Marcus Miglieri in that event. Walcott will also compete in Hartford after a ‘3rd’ in the 200-meters. Also advancing for the boys will be a pair of freshmen: Matt Maser in the High-Jump & Deontrea Carlson…in the Long Jump.
Lincoln placed 5th in the Girls team standings…and 6th in the Boys portion of the Regional
Valders
Valders Junior Michael Gesese-Elsenpeter was a triple-event winner last night at the New Holstein Regional Track & Field meet. Gesese’-Elsenpeter won the 100-&-200 meters as well as the long jump to lead the Vikings to a 2nd place finish in the Boys division. Michael also was part of the qualifying 4-by-400-meter relay. Other Valders boys advancing to the Sectional are: Trevor Wenzel in both the 16-hundred & 3200 meter run, Owen Birnbaum in both Hurdles & the triple jump, Cody Larson in the pole vault, Owen Seefeldt & Josiah Welch in the 400-meters…Andrew Welch in the 200-dash and Nate Griepentrog in the 800. Emily Leschke of the Vikings advances to the Sectional in the high jump to help her team to a 7th place finish.
Kiel dominated the Girls division…winding up on top with 1-hundred-95 points….with Sheboygan Falls a distant 2nd..at 126.5. The Raider Boys placed 4th.
