Manitowoc Lutheran prevailed over Mishicot yesterday in the championship game of the WIAA Division-4 Regional tournament. The Lancers trimmed the 6th ranked Indians 8-to-4 to advance to the Sectional semi-finals next Tuesday against the winner of today’s Saint Mary Catholic/Algoma game. Lutheran’s Matt Menges, in his 6th year as head coach, spoke about the victory.
Winning pitcher Megan Schetter allowed 4-runs on 5-straight hits in the bottom of the first that gave the Indians a 4-3 lead. But, she blanked the host team the rest of the way.
Menges….KNOWS this is a special Lancer group, athletically.
Schetter also was a contributor at the plate Thursday, going 3-for-4 including a double, 3-runs scored and an rbi. Mikayla Riemer, Kassia Rosera & Maddie Schleis added 2-hits a piece with Rosera driving in 3-runs. Megan Junk took the mound loss, Kourtney Leroy was 4-for-4 with a double and run scored for Mishicot, which ends an outstanding season at 20-&-3.
