New York outfielder Brandon Nimmo reached base five straight times and left-hander Steven Matz threw six shutout innings as the Mets the first of a four-game series 5-0 at Miller Park. Matz and two relievers held Milwaukee batters to five singles. Brewer manager Craig Counsell praise the opposing pitcher.
Zach Davies returned from the disabled list to absorb his fourth defeat of the season. The Brewer starter gave up two walks, six hits, and four runs in four innings. Davies was, understandably, not happy with his performance.
The loss ended a three-game winning streak for Milwaukee. Junior Guerra starts tonight’s 7:10 P-M game for the Brewers.
