St. Louis starter Michael Wacha combined with two relievers to limit Milwaukee’s powerful offense to just three hits and four walks in a 5-1 defeat Tuesday night. The Brewers had scored 37 times — more than nine runs-a-game — while winning their last four contests. No Brewer got more than one hit and pinch-hitter Jonathan Villar knocked in the only run. Starter Zach Davies took his fifth loss in seven decisions after giving up eight hits, three walks, and five runs in five innings. Manager Craig Counsell addressed rumors that Davies’ shoulder was still hurting him.
He also addressed the status of Tyler Salidino, who injured his ankle making a play at second.
Junior Guerra starts the rubber game of the three-game series at Miller Park this afternoon at 12:10 P-M in a game to be broadcast on Facebook.
