Two Girls Fastpitch Softball teams from our listening area are still alive in the WIAA post-season tournament and will play for a trip to State tomorrow.
In the Division-4 Sectional semifinals:
Manitowoc Lutheran trounced host & 2nd seeded Algoma 11-to-2. The Lancers, a #4 seed heading into Regionals, now face Weyauwega-Fremont in the Sectional Finals at Saint Mary Catholic tomorrow afternoon at 4:30.
In the Division-3 Sectional:
Top-seeded Brillion ‘outlasted’ Southern Door….5-to-4 in ‘8’ innings. The Lady Lions advance to the Sectional championship Thursday at Chilton (5:30) where they’ll meet Tomahawk.
In Regional ‘Boys Baseball’ yesterday….
WIAA Division-1:
Neenah…………………………..9……………………….Manitowoc Lincoln………………………3.
In Division-2:
Luxemburg-Casco….defeated Valders….6-to-4. The Spartans will now travel to Denmark this afternoon where they’ll battle the top-seeded Vikings, a 4-3 winner over Sturgeon Bay. In that Valders L-C contest…..Fletcher Dallas started and took the loss. He was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI as the Vikings close the season with a mark of 11-&-6.
In Division-3 Regional action:
Mishicot (edged) Roncalli .4-to-3. The #1 seeded Indians are scheduled to host Gibraltar/WashIngton Island ‘today’ in the Regional championship. The Vikings ‘clobbered’ Kewaunee 13-1 in a 6 inning game.
