A Milwaukee County teacher says society is quick to criticize law enforcement officers and rarely gives them appreciation. Lewis Lea was attacked and carjacked while he was in his car at a county park May 17th. He had fallen asleep while waiting for his son’s soccer practice to conclude. Four teenagers opened his car door, knocked Lea to the ground and assaulted him. One of them stomped his head and he was almost run over as they drove away in his car. Lea says the deputy stayed with him and his family, even after his shift ended, comforting his son as the father was taken to the hospital. The Lea family has written a letter thanking the deputy for his professionalism and concern.
