Seeing a bear moving around in northeastern Wisconsin isn’t as uncommon as it used to be. Residents in that part of the state are getting used to the experience. A D-N-R Regional Wildlife Biologist says his office doesn’t get nearly as many reports of bears as it did in the past because the experience is becoming so normal. A tractor-trailer truck hit a bear on Highway 41 near Suamico Monday and that’s happening more frequently, too. Experts estimate there are about 200 bear-vehicle collisions each year. You can expect sightings to peak in July during mating season.
