Energy companies from Illinois and Florida are asking the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for permission to build two solar farms. Total cost of the projects in Iowa County would be 390-million dollars. The two solar farms would generate an estimated 300 megawatts, enough electricity to supply 67-thousand homes for one year. Wisconsin Public Service and Madison Gas and Electric would purchase the solar energy. The commission is reviewing the applications. No timeline has been set for a final decision on the applications.
