Governor Scott Walker is officially proclaiming June as ‘Dairy Month’ in the state of Wisconsin. The governor’s office says the dairy industry contributes more than 43-billion dollars a year to the state economy with three-point-five-billion in agricultural exports. Walker said in a statement, “we are proud to be America’s Dairyland. Our state produces the best milk and cheese in the world, and thanks to our hardworking farm families, dairy processors and agribusinesses, Wisconsin produced more than 30 billion pounds of milk and a record three-point-three-seven-billion pounds of cheese last year.” Wisconsin’s dairy industry employs nearly 79-thousand people in the state. Walker is encouraging everyone to celebrate June Dairy Month at farm breakfasts in their communities.
