The Town of Sun Prairie is asking a Dane County judge to remove its clerk, saying he hasn’t done his job and has been insulting to the public. The town chairman asked Bret Pederson to resign, but Pederson refused. That’s when he was suspended and banned from the town hall. Pederson was hired to fill out the two-year term of former clerk Cindy Yelk when she died. Although he said he was proficient in a computer software program to keep the town books, officials say he made a lot of errors on payroll and paying bills. Town officials say they want Pederson gone before the August 14th election to avoid any problems.
