The Capitol Civic Center in downtown Manitowoc has been collecting money to help with planned upgrades to the historic theater. The Capitol has announced “Act Two” of the campaign, which aims to raise $2.5 million. The project scope will address significant improvements including new house seating, additional restrooms, an expanded lobby, and improvements to enhance customer experience. Additionally, necessary infrastructure improvements will be addressed. The theater opened June 16, 1921, as “Ascher Brothers’ Capitol Theatre”, and underwent a renovation in 1987. It was then that it was renamed the “Capitol Civic Center.”
