A Lake Michigan coastline running spectacle between Manitowoc & Two Rivers is just a few days away. The 7th annual Holy Family Memorial Maritime-Marathon is set for Sunday morning. Lee Kummer, an avid marathoner himself, is one of the 5-event co-founders.
About two dozen states are expected to be represented in the Boston Marathon qualifier. Kummer says they encourage local residents to come out & support the competitors.
Lee Kummer said they’ve had a great response from past runners and the volunteers along the 26.2 mile course are ‘golden’ to them.
He pointed out through the first 6-years, the race committee has donated over $75,000 to various charity partners.
The Marathon will begin at 7:00 o’clock Sunday morning after a blessing by Father Doug Le Captain from Saint Francis of Assisi in front of the UW-Manitowoc campus. There is one change this year in that the end of the race Will NOT be on the east, or lakeside of the campus.
Holy Family Memorial Medical Center is the title sponsor, while Investors Community Bank is presenting sponsor.
