The U.S. House of Representatives is diving into a two-week vote-a-thon on dozens of bills aimed at opioid abuse. One Republican authored measure would create new criminal penalties for making or trafficking certain drugs containing fentanyl. Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman serves Manitowoc County in his constituency.
During a recent visit to Manitowoc the local lawmaker spoke about a recent conference held in Oshkosh addressing “opioid abuse”.
Most of the 39 bills the House will vote on this week are bi-partisan but some Democrats say the fentanyl legislation would give the government “unfettered power to decide which drugs would be banned without scientific input.”
