Members of the Manitowoc County Board’s Finance committee last night approved an idea to construct a resolution to create a County Sales Tax.  Committee chair Paul Biff Hansen tells Seehafer News the proposal will be modeled after the Sheboygan County sales tax with a percentage of money collected to be divided among cities, towns and villages to help repair streets and roads in their jurisdiction.  Also, Manitowoc County Board chairman, Jim Brey, suggested that discussions begin on a proposed referendum to be placed on the November ballot for creation of a county sales tax.  Talks will continue on that at the committee level in July.  Meanwhile, in a bit of irony the Finance committee voted to approve borrowing for current road repairs.  That recommendation goes before the full County Board next Tuesday.
