“SUBFEST”, The Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s celebration AND commemoration of 28-submarines built in the city during World War II, will be going on this weekend. Karen Duvalle, who is curator of the U.S.S. Cobia, said beginning Friday morning there is discounted admission’ to tour the sub with an added bonus.
This is the 75th birthday of the Cobia with the anniversary of her actual launch on the east coast coming up in November. Duvalle said the 4th annual festival will formally begin Friday (tomorrow) night with Live music, food and refreshments followed by a full slate of events Saturday, tipped off by Yoga on the roof-deck of the museum.
There’s more Live music Saturday afternoon & night in addition to a Lighted Boat Parade around 9:15pm and Fireworks at approximately 10:00 o’clock. Earlier Saturday, there are going to be hot dog and twinkie-eating contests, as well as a celebrity sub-eating event. Sunday’s SUBFEST activities will include a special Tolling of the Boats ceremony on the deck of the Cobia at 10am kids activities, food vendors and a Live band in the afternoon.
