The U-S Fire Administration says the Sun Prairie firefighter killed in Tuesday night’s explosion and fire was found under a pile of rubble. Cory Barr was off-duty at the time and he was found inside the tavern he owned, which caught fire after a gas leak had caused the explosion. Barr was taken to U-W Health in nearby Madison where he died. At least five buildings were damaged in the blast and the fire it caused. A total of six firefighters, one police officer, and five residents needed hospital treatment. Barr and two other firefighters had to be pulled from the debris which was left after the explosion.
