Even though Jesus Aguilar was beaten in the first round of the Home Run Derby last night, it was an exciting competition, which saw the hometown boy, Bryce Harper, take home the win. The competitors got four minutes to pound as many baseballs over the fence as possible, and if they were able to blast two over 440 feet, the batter then received 30 seconds of bonus time. Harper needed all four minutes to tie Kyle Schwarber in the finals, sending him into bonus time ties at 18 bombs apiece. Then, after a few hits that fell short, Harper got a pitch from his father, a gave it a ride over the center field wall, and became only the third player to win the derby in front of their home crowd.
