The honorable Gary Bendix administers the oath to his successor Jerilyn Dietz yesterday as she becomes the first female circuit court judge in the history of Manitowoc County.
Dietz defeated attorney Ralph Sczygelski in the spring election to serve a six-year term in branch two, succeeding Judge Bendix who retired effective Tuesday. Retired Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Daryl Deets (no relation) says he saw something special when she presented cases in his courtroom as an assistant district attorney.
Her husband—Sheboygan County court commissioner Ryan O’ Rourke.
Dietz joins Judges Mark Rohrer and Robert Dewane serving Manitowoc County on the Circuit Court bench.
