Loretta C. Kroening, age 81, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life of Monday morning, September 3, 2018 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc.
Loretta was born on July 4, 1937 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothea Hoeffner Klusmeyer. Loretta attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1955. She was employed at Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc from where she retired after forty seven years. Loretta was a lifelong member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Evening Circle and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, reading magazines and doing word search.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Kroening, Manitowoc, her grandson who she dearly loved, Matthew Kroening of Minneapolis, MN, one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Leroy Nell, Johnson Creek and one sister-in-law, Lola Klusmeyer of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Dorothea Klusmeyer; husband: Donald Kroening; three brothers: Harold (Babe) Klusmeyer, Emmett (Loretta) Klusmeyer, and Elroy Klusmeyer; three sisters: Dorothy (Elmer) Vogt, twin sisters: Ethel (Kenny) Seefeldt and Edith (Robert) Luckow.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Benjamin Schaefer and Rev. Mark Johnston. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
