Ronald G. Miller, age 83, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday morning, September 26, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Ron was born on April 28, 1935 near Cooperstown in Kewaunee County. He was the son of the late Raymond J. and Margaret Eisenschinek Miller. Ron attended parochial school at Sacred Heart Catholic School and went on to Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1953. On May 15, 1958 Ron entered the United States Army serving his country for the next two years being honorably discharge on May 15, 1960. From 1960 until 1962 Ron was a member of the United States Army Reserves Unit #377. When Ron returned to Manitowoc he became employed with Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry for the next 4S years until his retirement. On August 20, 2004 he married Mary Ellen Aulik Robinson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Ron was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Manitowoc Sea Gull Club for 50 years and longtime member of local dart ball leagues. In 1998 Ron took over running the 2 Man Golf League and since 2004 served as President or Vice President of the league. For many years Ron was a member of the Meadow Links golf and bowling leagues and for over 50 years Ron was a member of local bowling leagues throughout the area. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Ellen; two children: Steve Miller, Appleton; Kim Schmitzer and special friend, Daniel VanGrinsven, Little Chute; three grandchildren: Ryan Miller, Amanda Schmitzer and Kyle (Anna) Schmitzer; one great granddaughter: Jaiden Aliya Knapp; step children: Jeff and Lisa Robinson, Manitowoc; Jody Keil, Kiel; two step grandchildren: Anthony and Amber Spackman; two step great grandchildren: Jordyn and Josie Spackman; and his pet dog, Manty. He was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Margaret Miller.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Asssisi Catholic Church on Grand on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. Following the church services there will be a luncheon for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water St., Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
