Alice M. Gates, age 90, of Manitowoc, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Harbor View Assisted Living, Manitowoc under hospice care with Southern Care Hospice-Green Bay.
Alice was born June 5, 1928 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late George and Erma (Specht) Anthold. She grew up in the town of Kossuth and attended school in Rockwood graduating with the class of 1946 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Alice worked at White House Milk Company and until retirement at the Manitowoc Company. She was a member of Trinity Alliance Church, Rockwood Homemakers and the Manitowoc Senior Center. Alice taught Sunday school and was the church organist. She enjoyed Tuesday afternoons at the Senior Center in the weaving room and playing piano for the Silver Memories.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Peggy (Cliff) Anderst; grandchildren: Sharalee (Bruce) Petch; Kimberlee (Phil) Dickau; great-grandchildren: Austen, Landra, Ben and Reese, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; daughter-in-law: Mary Jo Gates, Green Bay; caregiver: Kathryn Meyers; close friends: Barb Foster, Margaret Prosser & Carolyn Anderson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Erma Anthold; son: Gregory Gates; sisters: Gertrude White and Carol Madsen.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Trinity Alliance Church, 3121 Nagle Avenue, Manitowoc, with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Entombment will take place on Monday, October 22, at the Knollwood Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers if so desired, donations may be made to Trinity Alliance Church (memo reference: Building Fund).
