More information has been released on the accident that occurred yesterday morning on I-43 just north of Highway 310. According to Deputy Inspector Jason Orth, a car was traveling south on the highway, and was being trailed by a semi, when the lead vehicle slowed down due to a deer attempting to cross the interstate. The semi was unable to slow down in time, and struck the car. The car was able to safely come to rest on the outer shoulder, while the semi ended up crossing the left lane, striking a third vehicle. The semi took the median, taking out the “No Turn Around” sign, with the front end of the truck stopping in the left lane of the north bound side. The third vehicle was able to pull into the turnaround area in the median. The semi driver was cited for following too closely, while the driver of the first vehicle is suspected to have suffered minor injuries.
