Lucille M. Bergner, age 94, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at St. Mary’s Home at Felician Village.
Lucille was born on September 3, 1924 in Manitowoc to the late Louis and Anna (Marshek) Vande Castle. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. On October 14, 1944, Lucille married Clarence J. Bergner in Edenton, N.C. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2010. Lucille took pride in being a stay-at-home mom. When her boys grew and left home, she became a certified nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Home until retirement. In retirement, she and Clarence, enjoyed playing golf, including taking golfing excursions to Florida and Arizona to break up Wisconsin’s winters. Together they also enjoyed Packer football with season tickets on the 50 yardline at Lambeau. Lucille always maintained her interest and involvement in current events by following them on cable news and maintaining her subscription to the Manitowoc Herald-Times. Above all, Lucille was a person of religious faith, and she relied on it heavily in recent years as her health declined.
Survivors include Lucille’s three sons, Fr. David Bergner S.D.S., Indialantic, FL; Douglas (Julie) Bergner, Manitowoc; and Bradley (Lisa) Bergner, Cascade; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Doris Rappel; also other relatives and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; and was the last surviving sibling among six girls and four boys.
