Christ Jesus summoned the soul of Nora Jean Schwark at the age of 80 into eternal glory. She entered her heavenly rest as she died peacefully at home with her family by her side. Jean was born on May 5, 1938 in Stueben, WI to Louie and Lillian Zimpel. She was a 1956 graduate of Gays Mills, WI High School. Jean married Ralph Schwark on April 26, 1958 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Markesan, WI. They recently celebrated their anniversary of 60 years of marriage. In 1964 they moved to Manitowoc where she and Ralph managed One Hour Martinizing. In time they took ownership of the business. Jean was a lifetime fan of the Chicago Cubs. She relished the moment when the Cubs finally won MLB’s World Series! She was a keen bowler, did needlework of all kinds and gardened. Her flowers brought her much joy. She was a long time member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church. Jean was an active leader of the Lutheran Girls Pioneer youth group for 40 years. She also served as a member of the Ladies Aid and Evening Circle. Jean is survived by her husband, Ralph, and six children: Pastor Bruce (Jeong Yun); Julia; Pastor James
(Laurie); Janice (Raymond) Williams; Johnathon; Jeffrey. Nine grandchildren survive: Johanna and David (Caryn) Schwark; David and Tiffany (Devin) Williams; Naomi (David) Porth; Se Yeon, Sun Young, Andrew, and Sun II Kim; plus great grandson, Michael Porth. Seven siblings survive Jean also: Jess (Julie) Zimpel, Kay Zach, Jay (Mary) Zimpel, Eunice Peotter, Patricia Johnson, Shirley (Carl) Schwark, Jerry (Jeannie) Zimple. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Lillian, and her brother Keith. Jean would readily say: I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes! Her Christian funeral services will be held at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Johnston. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and then on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the Schwark family requests memorials be made in Jean’s memory to the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI.
