Junior guard Markus Howard of Marquette has been named Big East Player of the Year. The five-foot-11 Arizona native led the conference in scoring with 25 points-a-game and broke his own conference record for single-game scoring when he put up 53 in an overtime win at Creighton. Howard is currently a finalist for several national awards, including the Wooden and Bob Cousy awards.
