Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig was part of the 116th session of the National Sheriff’s Institute in Aurora Colorado, an executive development program designed for sheriffs. Sheriff Hartwig was among 28 other sheriffs from across the country, who trained on contemporary challenges they will face in modern times. They learned about effective leading procedures in areas like public safety, criminal justice system policy, community relations, and organization effectiveness. The National Institute of Corrections is a division of the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, and is the primary federal source of technical assistance, training, and information services for state and local corrections.
