A committee that’s getting ready to bring Snowfest back to the Cool City next summer has a special two night Music event this weekend in Two Rivers. Tony Sachse is chairman of the Friends of Two Rivers Snowfest Committee, which formed a year ago in an effort to revive the quirky, but historic festival after an approximately 25 year absence. Sachse tells SeehaferNews.com the event started in 1936 after snow was found in the middle of the summer.
Tony said he and his brother grew up attending Snowfest, as their dad was part of the Jaycees sponsoring organization. Sachse explains the Snowfest Weekend of Music on June 21st and 22nd will include 2 cool events, starting Friday night at Two Rivers Community House. “We are going to basically take people on a blast from the past,” he explained. “Tim Strews and Shane Reno, names people may remember from their days on WQTC and all the love lines and great Friday night music, are gonna be bringing back pictures and things from the past. Shane and Tim are gonna be spinning music from the hay days of Snowfest.”
Food and beverages, along with raffles, and surprise Snowfest merchandise will be available for sale Friday between 5 and 10pm. Then, Saturday evening from 4-10pm, there will be 4 bands on the beach performing live rock n’ roll in the Rotary Pavilion at Neshotah Park. Bands will be Gain, Beer Club, The Bang Bang, and Cozy Danger.
Snowfest officially makes its’ comeback on June 19th, 20th and 21st of 2020.
