LaVerne N. Luckow, age 84, of Manitowoc, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. Mary’s at Felician Village.
LaVerne was born on November 17, 1934, in the town of Newton, daughter of the late John and Hertha (Hoefner) Waack. She attended local area schools and graduated with the class of 1952 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On October 3, 1953, LaVerne married Wayne A. Luckow at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2016. The couple farmed the family farm in the town of Newton until their retirement. She was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.
Survivors include her three daughters and one son-in-law: Kay Grady and special friend: Bob Schmitz, Sheboygan, Deb (Chuck) Schuh, Manitowoc, Judy Luckow and her special friend: Bob Marheine, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: James (Michelle) Luckow, Manitowoc, Jon (Diane) Luckow, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Michael (Sondra) Grady, Robert Grady, Jolene (Manny) Garcia, Jeanne (Nathan) Wenzel, Allison Luckow, Dawson Luckow, Karra Cina; eight great-grandchildren: Landon Garcia, Gavin Garcia, Isabella Garcia, Dominic Hernandez, Ava Wenzel, Braxton Wenzel, Caitlin Grady, Adalyn Grady; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Roger (Ann) Luckow, Newton, Marion Morgan, Cato, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Hertha Waack; one grandson: Justin Cain; one brother: LeRoy Waack; infant sister: Irmgard Waack; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include: Delores Wernecke, Theresa Waack, Barbara Luckow, Edith Luckow, Chester Luckow, Robert Luckow, George Morgan; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Irving (Florence) Luckow.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 County Trunk C, Manitowoc. Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
